This question, while it may be frequently asked, does not have a simple answer. Questions about flashing are best asked in the forums where you will get the best guidance, links, input, suggestions, and trouble shooting. Some things that you should include in your forum thread opening post are:

  • Your phone model
  • Your current carrier
  • Your current firmware
(if this is different from what you started with, you should include the firmware that the phone came with)

  • What kinds of things do you want to be able to do with your phone after flashing it?

Please keep in mind that the ability to flash a phone depends on if there are flash files that are leaked for your model phone, as well as if those flash files are compatible with your phone's electronic identifier string. Newer firmware Verizon phones that use an MEID as opposed to an ESN are currently UNflashable to the best of my knowledge as the currently leaked flash files rely on your phone using an ESN. If your phone has the Verizon Firmware version 01.19.xx it is best to ask lots of questions before attempting to flash your phone.

Also of note is that with each different firmware for each different carrier, there are some different things that you will gain, however there will be some things that you will also loose. Of particular note is that there are not many leaked firmwares that support the SD card slot on the Razr v3m, so flashing to one of those firmwares which does not support it will gain you certain good things, but you will loose the ability to use the SD slot.

Choose your next firmware wisely, do plenty of research, and ask lots of questions.
