How to setup Motorola Phone Tools with a Verizon v3c / v3m Razr-very outdated
Motorola Phone Tools, otherwise known as MPT, can be used to upload your own ringtones, pictures, and videos to your Verizon v3c / v3m Razr -- free of charge. These phones come stock from Verizon with this feature blocked, probably for the potential profits that can be made with this feature not available. However, with a relatively simple modification to the phones programming, we can unblock this feature so that we may upload our own content to our phone, for free.
Used in this guide:
- * Mobile Phone Tools - Version 3.20f [purchase it with a usb cable] -->
* Standard USB cable [PICTURE]
* Required seem edit: "Enable USB Transfers" [GUIDE] [SEEM EDITS]
* Razr V3C / V3M from Verizon

!!! A SEEM EDIT IS REQUIRED TO MAKE MPT WORK !!! |
| You need to modify the programming of the phone first, by performing a seem edit. 2742 Bytes: 0000 Offset 6a check bit 0 // check bit 1 |

INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSTALLING MOBILE PHONE TOOLS [MPT 3.20f]
1. When you launch MPT you will see the MPT splash. After that, a box that says Choose a profile will pop up. For right now, click ok to use the default profile
2. The next window is to register your MPT. You can always go back and register MPT later, so for now lets click Register later...
3. If the next window is this window:
then click yes
4. Select how your phone will connect to your PC -- for this tutorials application we are going to use the USB Cable -- so make sure that USB cable is selected and then click next
5. When you reach the next window, Phone Setup that means that its time to plug your Razr back in

and then the setup should start to automatically detect your phone
6. If it comes back to this window:
then click no
7. Then it will load a default phone, and attempt to initialize
8. This default profile will probably not work with the V3C, so Click the Menu button then goto Setup then click General Setup
9. In General Setup, goto the Communication Tab and then click Change Modem
10. It then takes you to the Device configuration wizard where you then click next
11. Click on Motorola USB Modem to highlight it and then press Next
12. Takes you to the Detect Driver window where you click next
13. Then it automatically detects your phone and actuall talks with it, until its done when it says "* Closing motorola USB modem" then click next
14. Then you reach Model Selection where, this time around, you're going to select Motorola CDMA and then on the right select Motorola - CDMA Generic and then click next
15. Device configuration is completed so then click next
16. Then you get back to the general setup window, where you click OK -- after this, it will take you back to the same phone, however this time it should actually work and connect after about 10-15 seconds. You can tell it worked by the appearance of Verizon (US)

17. Next, you want to do steps 14-22 all over again by:
- clicking Menu > Setup > General Setup
clicking onto the Communication tab
clicking Change Modem
clicking next
selecting motorola usb modem and click next
wait for phone to talk and then click next
NOW THE NEXT STEP IS WHERE ITS DIFFERENT
18. In the Model Selection window highlight Motorola GSM and then on the right panel highlight Motorola - V3 and then click next
19. Next it should goto Device configuration complete so then click finish and back at the General Setup window click OK
Then watch happily as finally, all the hard work has paid off and we've got the Motorola Razr V3C for Verizon to work with MPT V3.20f
Dont forget that in order to actually use most of the functions
you have to press the <> icon above the red power off button
