Verizon fixed DUN backdoor -- this thread contains a fix
Tethered DUN was working fine yesterday. Today, I got online, and was automatically redirected to https://dunsp.vzw.com/, which says "This device is currently not authorized to access Dial-Up Networking services, please contact your wireless service provider for more details."
Nothing on my plan has changed or anything. Are they on to me?
ahhhhhh

It sounds like it is working for other once they do that hack to the phone, just need to be careful until you get your first bill to make sure nothing else has changed.

Posted: Wed, 04/09/2008 - 01:50 by bulletbkrOkay, feelin' stupid here guys.....I found QPST in the right version, got my phone recognized, and copied the nvm_factory file. Then I backed it up, just in case...Then I went looking the hex editors mentioned in the post, and downloaded them. One won't run, the other runs, but crashes every time I start scrolling to find the section I'm supposed to edit.
I've d/l'd several other hex editors, and none of them can make sense out of the nvm_factory file, so I have not been able to edit it. I'm quite frustrated, it's been several hours. I'm tired, cranky, and going to bed.
Maybe in the morning I'll copy everything over to my desktop PC and try it there. Maybe the laptop just doesn't have the chops to work with this stuff. Maybe I'm Ghengis Khan, too.
Grrrr
To them, a bike is garage clutter. To us, it's a Beretta, a passport in another name and half a mil in cash. The choice to use it or not is up to us...

Posted: Wed, 04/09/2008 - 05:57 by zepevengI am familiar with seem editing
in fact without doing most of them I could not unlock my phone for data transfer (adding ring tones etc) and dial up networking.
there are many seem edits in the section you refferred to. Which one would erase the dun string to enable me to surf
I can connect with no problems but verizon gateway is blocking me
I wish some experts just wrote a tutorial for the rest of us dummies
instead of referring simply to an article in another forum
what would be the offset for the dun string?
I don't want to tinker with the phone without knowing all the facts
thanks for any help
phone i have is a v3m

Posted: Wed, 04/09/2008 - 07:15 by wseyllerThe seem edit just allow you to use QPST to connect to your phone which allows you to save the nvm_factory file from your phone. The nvm_factory file contains the string
You then use a hex editor to change the string, save it and load it back on your phone with QPST.
Here is a tutorial. Follow the instruction exactly.
