VE20?

After looking through the forums, I want to ask before I try to hack my phone, It is a VE20, isn't that the same as a V3?

What I have done so far;

I found the Sunsteen program at Best Buy, it found my phone, I could do everything, It just said my phone carrier was altell. I did a software upgrade from motorolla, now it wont connect with the Susteen software. It find my phone, charges it, and I can access the files for music and pictures on the SD chip.

Since I can't get to the files I want to back up before doing a hard reset and going back to the origanal Vegas version I am considering hacking it. I ran the driver program so far but that was it.

HELP?

ve20 has roughly the same look as the v3 series but it's not quite the same phone. right now i'm confused as to which carrier you're with...you posted in the uscc forums(don't repost) but you say you're on alltel. if yuo've done an update and are with alltel. then most likely you've just had your phone locked down. best thing to do would prolly be to read up on flashing and flash back to what you had on it...so that you can use the program you've bought to work with it. i'm not familiar with the susteen name but if you paid for it then you wanna use it...i'm guessin.

I do have US Cellular, when I read the box for Susteen it had the VE20 listed. When I tried to install it and add my phone. There was/is no listing for a VE20 with USCC, but it let me add my phone as a VE20 with Altell. Tomato Toemoto thing, it let me do that. So in my quest for trying to get a Java or that type of ability I did the firmware update from Motorolla. Now since I have done that, Susteen can not connect to my phone. The USB cable I have that came with the software charges my phone, and I can get to the SD card that I have installed on my phone to sync music/pics/movies.

I really don't want to have to hack the phone if I don't have to. The only idea I have to get my phone back to the original vegas firmware is to do a hard reset. If I do that, i loose the ringtones, and background/pics that that purchased.
I have considerd getting the motorolla phone tools program, it will however only sync contacts, calendar. and for the cost of it, it is pretty pointless.

The things that I want on my Motorolla VE20 is;
Ability to follow links that come in via text messages
Sync my outlook calendar with my VE20
Connect to my exchange email with mobile email (have recently learned that wont happen, due to a port issue with the exchange server)

I've have some details maybe for you but have a question first.

When you say hard reset what do you mean in specific?
