V3m will not ring - reflash?
I purchased a Verizon V3m on ebay and successfully activated it on the network. I can make calls fine but notification of received calls works only in the vibrate mode. When I turn off "vibrate" and choose any of the stock ringtones it will not ring. The current SW version is 24.1_01.19.0A. However, under the battery it states it was originally NEWC_01.05.0A Will a reflash of the phone correct this issue? Should I return to the original version? Will it allow a return to the original version? Master reset is not an option that is available in the menu. I don't care about multimedia, the SD card or anything else. I only intend to make and receive calls - period.
Thanks for all responses.

Master Reset?
Posted: Sat, 03/12/2011 - 05:02 by GeorgeI'd like to master reset first if possible. Nothing to lose in that first step I figure. I downloaded Radiocomm but is is an intimidating piece of software. I need to do a bit of reading before I plug that baby into it. Any suggestions on that process?

Posted: Sat, 03/12/2011 - 05:46 by listenman20i've never actually seen all that much to read about on radiocomm. it has an awful lot of toggles and buttons to play with...which make it very tempting to "see what this does". which is why i have that warning to mess with only what you're told to mess with at the bottom of that guide. there was only ever a couple of things we messed with using that program to begin with. at one time we used part of that in the flash process but now there's a much better program for that.

Not resolved
Posted: Mon, 03/14/2011 - 11:13 by GeorgeThe radio detection circle turned from red to blue when the V3m was connected via USB. However, the "master reset" option returned a "failed" message in the comments section when attempted. "Restart" also returned a "failed" message. Any suggestions? The V3m does not to appear to have changed in any way. I watched the window on the V3 and nothing was happening during the process.
EDIT - I was able to "master reset" via the OPCODe function of the V3m and keyboard. Easy and worked great. Reset did not resolve the no-ring problem. Reflash next? I have 01.19.0a on there now. Is there a newer version to try or stick with current?

Posted: Mon, 03/14/2011 - 15:09 by George... the 01.19.0A firmware to flash with. I have found the original SW version but apparently it is a no-no to go back. www.humpa has many versions but not that one. A search has not revealed the current one. Anybody know where to look next? Anybody have any clue why a phone that produces all of the appropriate sounds will not ring?
Being a curious person, why is it that you can't go back to the original SW version?
i quoted you therefore i have to fill in this subject

they changed the bootloader. it's no longer compatible with the one you use to flash back to original. trying to go backwards with bootloaders is almost always a brick.
