Tethering V3M With backdoorfix - still problems.
Hey, guys. Is anyone out there having problems with the tethering after that backdoor fix (which connects without giving you that Verizon sign-up page)? My "signal" is strong for about 30 seconds, then only the left side of the internet icon flashes blue (two monitor boxes, you know), and I can't get anywhere.
Does this sound like something I can fix? Does anyone know why I can surf for no longer than that without reconnecting for that initial "surge"?

do you have EVDO disabled?
Posted: Sat, 08/16/2008 - 12:31 by spikejonesdo you have EVDO disabled? when you get to the verizon sign up page that means that you've either got EVDO on, or you havent properly edited the dun username string
alternately, have you tried the nocharge service here:
http://www.nocharge.com/
also, if you are on a calling plan like nationwide that bills for data - you should not use this hack because you WILL get billed for the stuff you transmit and receive
ehh. whats up doc?
Yeah, I have EVDO disabled
Posted: Tue, 09/02/2008 - 18:58 by great_dameYeah, I have EVDO disabled and I'm NOT on the nationwide plan. I just use minutes.
Problem is, the connection only works for about thirty seconds on one big "surge" before it just stops and requires disconnecting/reconnecting. Kind of a pain but I work it so it loads my bank statements and whatnot.
Seriously, no one else is familiar with this problem?!

Try checking you modem
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 05:30 by pyde_pypperTry checking you modem settings in device manager to see what the time out/ disconnect it set to. It should not be locking up that quick on you from my understanding. I don't use and have never used DUN on my Razr but I have seen it work with friends and theres stay connected for how ever long they want as far as I know

Somehow the number to dial, #777, got removed from my settings, but after putting that back in and clicking 'yes' to change that to my default # for this connection, I had no probs. I'm on VZW running Vivo on my phone as it states to the left.
Also a VZW V3m flashed to USCC NCR_01.1B.00R, then upgraded via MSU and now flashed to ViVo and active on the USCC network.
curious if the tethered NAI
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 20:01 by spikejonescurious if the tethered NAI simply has to be anything OTHER than (yournumber)@dun.vzw3g.com ? IF you are feeling risky, make a back up of that seem and or the nvm_factory file and just change the tethered NAI to some goobledygock and see if it still works.
