Razr2 V9m hacks?
Hey everyone! I just bought a v9m (alltel) not too long and i've seen a couple features missing from this phone. I haven't noticed much on the razr2 on this site (in the way of hacks and mods) and i was wondering if anyone out there has had the chance to modify alltel's fw to include a couple corners that i think alltel cut. the features include
Vibrate AND ring - not important to all but i've been used to this feature since i've owned a cell phone!
txt alerts - When a text is received from a contact that has a contact ID stored (ringer ID's), their ringtone is played!
I know that alltel's UI compared to verizon's is great, but no UI is perfect. (that's why we had modders to make it so :wink:)

Even on the older Alltel flashes ( ie firmware for say the original Razr's) we have never had that option. All you could get was Vib then Ring, and that hack doesn't even work on the v9m from my understanding.
As for the ring ID for a specific contact and txt msgs, that has been an ongoing issue everyone has complained about even hacking the original Razr. for whatever reason it has to do with the Moto UI. Whenever you have a custom ring ID set for a contact and you receive a call or txt msgs it uses the ring ID you have set for that contact, and to date no one has figured out why that is. That is one positive with the VZW UI because it doesn't work that way.

Posted: Wed, 10/17/2007 - 10:59 by pyde_pypperNot that I know of. I have seen a few pic of people who borrowed a v9 ( ie the GSM model of the Razr 2) and took a skin or 2 off of it and put it on the v9m. Thing to keep in mind tho is you'd still need to do the font fix to it if you tried that.
As for the VZW UI don't do it. I hate it myself also which is why I gave up my Maxx Ve after about 2 weeks of having it. This one (v9m) isn't as bad tho do to the fact on the VZW UI with this one the awful red bars are at least gone, they are now black. Back in the day when I bought my Razr's I flashed them the min the battery was fully charged so I never had to deal with the VZW UI, I just haven't got around to flashing this one over to Alltel or USCC yet. Still waiting for the bugs to be worked out of the flashing process being most of the software we use to hack the older models from VZW do not work with the newer phones ( ie the Maxx Ve, v9m, and z6tv).

Posted: Fri, 12/07/2007 - 13:02 by pyde_pypper^^^ The only model that has that is the v8 for T-Mobile. Reason being is they have not worked all the bugs out of it for use with the EVDO network which is why the TM version still is using the Edge network. More or less like the 1x part of VZW.
