I think i know the answer to this one, but if i flash my phone do i lose everything such as contact (which i have backed up) and like games (which i am not sure if you can back up?)
Thanks
with a moster flash you lose contacts customized ringtones that you added to your phone and games and messages. there is no way to back up games; however it has been reported that once you flash to vivo and buy a subscription game then you only get billed for it once. that may not be the case for everyone tho.
And before you flash, please, please, please make sure you have a phone and/or f/w that can be sucessfully flashed away from. If you have a V3m with a pESN/MEID DO NOT TRY TO FLASH YOUR PHONE!!!!

this might be a stupid question but whats a pESN/MEID? All i can really tell you about my phone is that i've had it for queit a while and that i dont think its got that new verizon firmware that ive read a lil about. I got the firmware where like everything was locked, and not the one where they stared alowing a few things.
if your phone is the older version, then you should be able to flash away from the verizon ui or even update to a newer version of the verizon ui. but to let us know more in order to guide you, you should give the S/W version either from the back of the phone under your battery or in the phone info under settings and tools. pesn and meid are the #s verizon has changed in order to issue out more phones. your phone, if its as old as you're leading me to think, should have an esn # located under the battery as well. thats basically a digital signature/serial # but they produced so many of the phones the possibility of combinations ran out. so they went to a pesn/meid.
yepp i got an esn number, and the s/w version is NEWC_01.09.02
also, what would you recomend flashing to? i remember when i used to come here all the time i would see people saying how much better the monster(?) firmware is? also, if i flash to the newer verizon firmware will i still beable to like flash to a different one?
on a v3m i recommend going with the vivo monster flash as its about the easiest to get going and once set up you can still update the prl(*228 opt2) without hosing your data. it also has a nicer mp3 player than the alltel and dst flashes. however if you like your verizon menu and have never used the moto menus then you may go ahead with the flash to the newer updates. it's harder but not always impossible to flash away from the newer flashes. either way i'd do alot of research into what can and can't be done. mark v has alot of info on the v3m on his site. here's a link. http://mark.cdmaforums.com/V3C-1.htm
i suggest reading any threads of interest he has posted on that site and most important of all. DO THE BACKUPS
Thanks listenman i think im going to go with the newer verizon firmware, when you say not "always" imposible, does that mean it is sometimes impossible, and also, where would i go about finding the firmware, and instructions on flashing?
mark v's site should give you plenty of info on flashing. thats the link in my last post if you look along the left side you find several options that may lead you to flashing but i think its in the page i linked. you can find the flash files from humpa's site that should be link on mark's pages as well. it's a fairly good idea to go thru his site and read anything that you find that's relevant to your phone and anything else that you think may be interesting to you. and yes it's been reported that people have had problems tryin to get their phone's back to what they were used to...
As mentioned review Mark_V's site for the flashing info. You can get the flashes from Humpa site like mentioend but some links may be dead from what I've heard. That said you cn get them from this link also
ok thanks, one more question, is there anyway that i can back up things such as ringtones that i bought, or txt messages (I know that sounds like a weird thing to back up, but i gots a few that are importaint) or is the only way to back up text messages to foward them to my email?
Online and operating normally The user database and WAP user database is not automatically adjusted, so new members and password changes are synced every hour, on the hour.
