Newb needs guidance
Sorry if this is posted in the wrong section....feel free to move it to the proper place.
Ive had mr Razr V3M for about a year now. Im sick of the ringers thats on it now, and would like some personalized ones without having to pay for them.
Im completely clueless as to where to start, what to download, and all the beginner stuff. I'll list what Im using to hopefully make it easier to get help.
Moto V3M
Verizon carrier
SW 24.1_01.10.07
Vista OS
Anyhelp or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

you absolutely sure that is
Posted: Sat, 11/22/2008 - 12:16 by pyde_pypperyou absolutely sure that is the current firmware on it. I've never seen or heard of that flash. I'm thinking it should be SW 24.1_01.19.07. Plz double check that and let us know before we make any suggestions.
Currently using the New Moto Krave ZN4

Posted: Sat, 11/22/2008 - 14:58 by listenman20might try looking thru a few of these links on how to create tones and getting them on your phone.
http://www.hacktherazr.com/guides/verizon-razr-v3m-v3c/media-creation/ri...
http://aznuwee.googlepages.com/
and there are a fair amount of threads asking this question already if you're a mind to search for them.
here you go... download
Posted: Sat, 11/22/2008 - 15:29 by jackspadehere you go...
download audio file
cut with windows movie editor (20 seconds is what i go with)
save output
upload to phone with bitpim (youll have to set your phone as a v3c)
...........
i dont remember if any converting is needed. if it is, you can use super for that ( www.erightsoft.com )
FYI BitPim will not work
Posted: Sat, 11/22/2008 - 16:15 by pyde_pypperFYI BitPim will not work correctly with this firmware.

The best method I know of is
Posted: Sun, 11/23/2008 - 17:44 by teddyearpThe best method I know of is the one(s) listenman posted. Just don't forget to delete the mytones.db file in the ROOT directory on your phone and then power cycle it. The only bummer is that sometimes any ringers you have assigned as caller id's may get re-indexed.
good luck
Click the image to the left to get to the imfamous 'Mickey Mouse Folder'
Also a VZW -> V3m flashed to Telus (as a V3c) and active on USCC's network
What was pyde's old sig? Yeah buddy, HELLO Java. . .
Thanks for the help guys.
Posted: Mon, 11/24/2008 - 10:06 by BillCThanks for the help guys. Ive already cut down a few songs using audacity before, so I know how that works.
Now my problem is getting them on the phone. I only want 2 or 3 ringtones, so deleting the factory stuff probably wont be necessary.
Do I need to get Moto Phone tools in order to load them, or can I just use the USB and go straight into the phone?
BTW, Ive searched and cannot find a precise answer to my particular problem, and phone.
With the current firmware
Posted: Mon, 11/24/2008 - 11:50 by pyde_pypperWith the current firmware you have the only way to get them on the phone is by using the link Listenman posted earlier in this thread. FYI MPT will not work transferring the tones becasue VZW changed the location of ring tones on the phone.
Here is the link again I mentioned that was posted for you.

the link refers to the krzr
Posted: Mon, 11/24/2008 - 12:15 by listenman20the link refers to the krzr but also works on v3m/v3c/v9m/ and a whole host of others with about the only main difference is the file location on some phones and all need be done there is to look thru the phone's directory and spot where the tones are and place yours there. just for kicks read thru some of the stuff on this link as well.
