Motorola Avvenu: Access your computer from the WAP
I just tried checking out this FREE motorola download called Avvenu that lets you access your computer from your phone.
Once I downloaded, installed, and logged in, I tried to log on through my Hack the Razr proxy, I got the orange page of dissapointment.
According to the Avvenu knowledge base, this application can be installed behind SOME proxies, but apparently not this one. Here's more detailed info:

It will probably work if you're paying for Verizon's service, but who wants to do that?
Like many here, I am new to this and infinitely fascinated by what may be possible! I have a V3c through Verizon and have modified su/sd/LCD gifs, performed most of the seem edits, modified the arcconfig.ini file for 4:55-minute video, and added and removed personal pics, etc. without any problems.

It takes a bit to set up depending on your configuration but it's worth it. I have a seperate user account on my XP machine and it's only for the proxy. I have a Dynamic IP so I also use a Static IP service along with an IP updater... I know my machine reliable so when I'm out of town, I'm assured tohave a working server. I've been using it for months with no problem... I just restart the machine every once in a while to ensure everyhting is all cozy... But other than that, it's super.

i just installed the software, registered for an account, went to share.avvenu.com on my phone, logged in, and blam there was my documents and i looked inside of it and its all good :) pretty crazy
supposedly you can upload picture directly from your phone to avvenu too.. nice find!

Posted: Tue, 01/02/2007 - 09:20 by AlcamarI just set up the free account and it works great, It is just a shame that the Verizon V3m can't reconize MS attachments like Word or Excel, or even pdf files, it appears that you can download pictures from you computer for free through the web connection, but is it also free through the web to send from the phone to the computer or will it be charged as a MMS/Pix message?
I think that if Motorola ever comes out with a good Windows Mobile System phone I will get one., I don't like the quality or the screen of the "Q", maybe the next generation will be better.

Posted: Thu, 01/11/2007 - 21:01 by morph3usI tried it again after doing a *228 update and it worked! Possibly because the update reset EVDO, but even after changing it back to CDMA, it worked.
Unfortunately, I still can't download anything to the phone or stream 3gp vids from my computer.
Has anyone else tried to do this with success?

Posted: Sun, 01/14/2007 - 13:58 by loc47116ive downloaded avvenu.com file installed it registered for an account but when i use my razr mobile web to go to avvenu.com, i cant log in it says disabled form and wont allow me to type in the log in box? Anyone know why

Posted: Sun, 01/14/2007 - 16:40 by morph3usIf you tried going to share.avvenu.com and it didn't work, try going to mobile.avvenu.com. This page is optimised for mobile phones. If that doesn't work, I would recommend trying the "restart browser" option from the browser menu and trying again. Other than that, I don't know. I haven't received that error message.

It's looks strange to me! any help is appreciated!
