Is it just me . . . .
or have I become an asshole?? And I want honest opinions from all. Feel free to really let me know if it's just me being an asshole.
I mean, IMHO a thread in a forum is intended to ask/answer intelligently posed questions and answers. Starting/posted said thread in the proper section of said forum site is always the proper use of forum etiquette as well, right?
So, what has happened? IMHO, it has become (almost) impossible to get any good info about the Motorola A855 'Droid' phone in/at ANY forum site. Why? Because (IMHO), it seems as though all the admins/mods/etc. have allowed the users at said sites to treat their respective forums as if they are a friggin (no FUCKING!) twitter feed. I mean, what is the use in a ROM developer's thread about his/her latest release for testing or whatever (no matter where it is released), for the next 2-3 pages (or 20-30 pages) of posts' to be either just like this and/or similar to this:
"I'm on it"
"Downloading now, will let you know"
"Way cool, dude, I'll try it out later and then let you know"
"Wow, had a [sic] problem" (without details).
Or my personal favorite, the person who posts like this: "Wow I have [enter here] problem and don't feel like reading this whole thread about how to fix it, HELLPP!!"
Where is the REAL information in these posts? I/we thought it was bad when the 'root' exploit was first found, and that is why I created some guide stuff (and then rootyourdroid.info and then some) at our respective sites. That, coupled with the fact that some sites allow one to continually edit their post ad-infinitum, made it seem that guides should be written to disect/discern the useful info from these scattered forums threads/posts into a somewhat useful one-stop-shop guide.
So, back to where I started. It seems as though this situation has snowballed even further; so much so that I have a REALLY hard time reading any Droid thread anywhere without getting fully pissed off. How do you guys do it? Pyde, Listenman? Or have I just become another fat headed 'ass-hat'? Feel free to poke said spike into my head if anyone here feels that I think it's too inflated.
