I messed up !!!
Got an old E815 from Ebay that had the original .03 firmware. I tried to upgrade it to the newer firmware...and I did. The problem is when I do the *228 for activation I am getting the "Welcome To Alltel" instead of Verizon.
What can I do to fix this???????? I even went online to My Verizon account and activated another phone then went back in and reactivated the E815. It took the esn number just fine but when I tried the *228 it stills welcomes me to Alltel.

If you get the same thing that means you are not in a true VZW area and you phone is using Alltel tower for whatever reason. That being said the only other option will be to hope in the car and drive to an area where you know for a fact it's a VZW tower you can get and do the *228 from there.
