how did you get your start?
i kind of fun thing do to on forums is see how everyone got started. its quite interesting and some people have some funny stories, i did this a while for my counter strike server and got some funny results. i will start off with an experience that is actually rather boring. i got my phone and within two days was trying to figure out how to edit the iTap dictionary. i downloaded some programs that didnt work and then finally came across htr and have been here for a few months.

I had been thinking about it for months and had almost broke down and just went and done it (granted they were still full price, $300+ considering this is almost a year and a half ago) but then this one guy at the vzw kiosk in a mall told me a little secret on how to get like 1/3 off the price (cause i had been there like twice at different times and talked to the guy about getting one) and im drawing a blank as to what the secret was... (oh oh oh i think it was, goto one of the corporate stores and tell the representative that you lost your phone, might not work if you have insurance on your phone)
so none the less i ended up getting one, one way or another, and was almost immediately fascinated by usb mini plug and quickly put it together that i had that cable for my digital camera... so i plugged it in, didnt work.. didnt do nothing, had no clue what to do, so naturally i busted a quick google search. guess what i searched for? hack the razr :) as in i didnt search for my site that i hadnt created yet, but that was my first search inclination since i figured it was something verizon was exactly encouraing its subscribers to do lol
so i found myself at howardforums at some point, not sure if it was after that first search, but that was the first forum i really participated in (i had already been into making web sites for years, always seen forums, never interested me for some reason).... but so about 2 or 3 weeks later after many super late nights spending way to much time reading forum posts i had become pretty good at hacking the razr...
then i started seeing people asking questions that i had found naturally thru reading and searching... then i put together the fact that i was already making web sites for companies and stuff, that it would be cool if i could give something back to the community, and thus... hack the razr was born :twisted:

I bought a new Razr V3a from alltel and I was looking around at first trying to get some free games, only to find out that BREW is what i have NOT java, so my dreams went down the toilet of free fun. Anyway i was searching for free Brew programs and i came across some obscure forum about people trying to figure brew out and i was directed here because they seemed to think people here knew more than they did. :shock:
..which after being here i totally agree with.

I had been on HoFo for a little while trying to hack my sister's Moto V325 (I didn't make much progress with the V325 back then, lol), so when I got my RAZR I started looking around on HoFo on how to hack my V3m. Somehow I ran across a link someone had posted about HTR, so I came here to take a look. Have been stuck here ever since! :lol:

I always like the form factor of the Razr I just hated the idea originally of the new VZW UI they were putting on there phones. I happen to be surfing one day and decided to see what was going on over at Hofo with hacking the thing being I use to watch the stuff going on with the E815 just never really hacked that one. So low and behold I came across all the flashing info to get a v3c running the Moto UI which I had on my E815. So I spent the time and tracked down all the software and stuff needed got it all installed and so forth. Then for about 2 hours I was tossing around if I really want to do this or not. Finally I said to myself piss on it what do I have to lose. Stopped on my way home from work and grabbed it. Put it on the charger for about and hour, never even made a call and I flashed it. Next thing you know my son breaks his phone and wanted the v3m, which I told him there was no flash at the time for it so if he wanted it flashed he'd lose the TF, and he was like fine by me I don't need the TF anyways. So I then had a v3m flashed to the Alltel v3c file, mind you this is a few weeks after I had just got my v3c.
Anywhoo I was getting tired of the BS attitude you see at Hofo sometimes and was looking around for another CDMA razr hacking site, well one way or another I found HTR and started making some posts. Shortly there after our great Admin asked if I'd like to help out getting the site to move forward and help others out hacking there phones. Low and behold I'm still here doing whatever I can to help anyone hack there phones or getting them back to working order if they mess something up.

Posted: Wed, 08/29/2007 - 17:53 by seneyeI got my Razr one day... 8) but my bed room is a far way from this computer and this computer is in my basement and i sleep down here.. but yet i have to charge my phone.. and the days i did bring my charger down i would forget the next night when i was in my bed... so i had to walk all the way down here get it and walk all the way... so i plugged it into the computer... nothing happened... I knew i needed drivers for it.. so..went to google and looked up Razr Drivers.. but before i did that... i took about 6 days trying to find if my phone was a V3m or V2c haha i couldn't see a difference.. but once that was over i looked up drivers.. came to this site... how i started.. :P

Posted: Sun, 09/16/2007 - 20:12 by oramac9I just wanted to charge my phone through my pc. I figured there was a driver out somewhere, so I googled "Motorola Razr drivers", and HTR was on the page. I decided to check it out, and within three days of buying my phone, I had done seem edits, changed my lcd image, changed my startup and shutdown .gifs, set up my DUN, and edited my proxies. I've had the phone for a week. :)

I had recently disconnected service with Alltel and was looking to switch to Verizon. I didn't know much about phones at the time and thought I would HAVE to reprogram it for it to work with VZW... so I did a Google search for "hack razr" and this site was first on the list! I checked it out, learned a lot, and took advantage of it. I recently flashed my phone to Vivo (love it btw!), did some seem edits, added some themes, etc. This forum is AWESOME!

Doing various research both online and asking friends who had phones, i had found out that i could expect the best service in my general area to be with Verizon. Knowing as well from research that certain carriers support /sell certain phones, i wanted to go in having an idea of what phone i wanted. I had seen friend's razr's and i had thought that they were pretty cool, so i googled something like "verizon razr" to see if they were supported. I came across a site that mentioned crippling of vzw razrs, and with a bit more googling i found out that a lot of it could be re-enabled. (i actually found htr before i ever got a phone) And with me being the nerd i am, i thought it sounded like fun and went down and got a phone a few days later, and spent my evenings learning what i could make it do. Ive seen a lot about people hating the vzw GUI , but ive never known anything different so it doesn't bug me.
