Help with my phone situation, is it possible?
Hello, here is our situation. Back in 2003 my wife and I decided to get new cell phones. We both got brand new black Motorola Razr V3 phones from ROGERS WIRELESS. I work in a factory, my wife doesn't work. My phone has gotten beaten and banged up to the point where it now barely functions. none of the buttons except the power button function. I can only answer calls by opening the phone but cannot make calls. On the other hand my wifes phone looks just as it did the day we got them. To fix this we just purchased a used RAZR off of ebay. It is locked to ROGERS WIRELESS so that isn't a problem. The issue is, the new phone is one of the pink ones. My wife is going to take the new pink V3 and I will take her black V3. What I need to know is it possible to "copy" everything that is on my current black RAZR and put it on my wifes black RAZR. Also before over writing it can we "copy" the entire contents of my wifes black RAZR onto her new pink RAZR. What would be the easiest way to go about this?

You talking contacts, picutres, ringtones...e.tc. Or is it something other then that you need to get moved. Once we have a few more details we can try to point you in the right direction.

Posted: Fri, 10/02/2009 - 11:19 by princejarethhThe best way is using a Micro SD card and saving everything from that, onto your PC. I created two folders on my desktop named: SilverV3 and BlackV3. I placed the SD into my old Silver phone and copied all my pictures and stuff to the Silver folder. Then, I took out the SD card and placed it into my Black phone. Then copied what was on there to the Black folder.
Then I put all the Silver stuff back on the card again, and into the black phone and the same in reverse with the black to silver again.
Since you are new to this stuff, I much rather you write down all your contacts on PAPER, instead of backing it all up on the "Bitpim" program. (Just to be safe.)
Now before you transfer your account to you NEW phone, first have your wife transfer her account to the PINK phone. THEN you transfer your account to the black one.

He has a V3. The V3 (first razr) has some different from all the other razrs. Like the VGA camera instead of 1.3MP. Also this model has NO micro SD card (like the v3c).
Bitpim won't work either since the V3 is a GSM phone and Bitpim is for CDMA phones.
OP you might want to try ModMyMoto out. They handle is GSM Razrs/Motos specifically. They should have some back up guides there with the software.
BTW OP since you work in a factory have you tried looking at those rugged phones? Like the military specified ones? I know in the US all carriers usually have one or two. I don't know if Canada's carriers do.

Here are two that Rogers carry. I don't know what you do in the factory but this might help with phone durability in the future.

It is the original model Razr that did not have TF card just like the VZW v3c didn't. And also Rogers Wireless is a GSM carrier in Canada so the device is setup different then the v3m or v3c we mostly talk about here at HTR.

I still think that if you want to just transfer your personal information from the two phones to each other, I believe it can be done easiest with Motorola Phone Tools. There's a guide here under the Verizon section for getting and using it.
good luck

Posted: Sat, 10/03/2009 - 14:42 by SHaMROCK_73Sorry guys, haven't been back to check in a few days. Basically what is important to copy are the contacts, custom ring tones (only I have these), pictures, games, and we both have custom outer screen images. I did this cl.gif hack when we got the phones as well as I purchased a few games from our service providers site and I was able to copy the games so they were on both phones without us both buying (I know illegal). So I'm not a total noob about this but that was 6 years ago and it seems to me, since the V3 is almost a museum piece now with how fast cell phones advance in technology the guides to do these things arn't as plentiful on the net as they once were. Or I lost my patients to really did down and search for what I need. I was hoping you could just copy the entire phone (is ths flashing?) to my pc and the upload it to the phone it needs to go to.

They handle GSM motorola's. They have guides and a forum who I am sure can assist you with your hacks. IN fact they have a few back up guide for the V3.
We really only deal with the CDMA phones here.
