Free Wap and inpulse prepaid
Wow just when i thought their prepaid service was the best for hacking since i could use evdo dun on a v3m prepaid with no minutes.
I used the htr free wap method with evdo enabled and it did not eat any of my airtime and i ran out of minutes today and i still can use it. Guys Hacking with prepaid is deffinately the way to go

ehh. whats up doc?
Prepaid is way more
Posted: Tue, 09/02/2008 - 13:14 by pyde_pypperPrepaid is way more expensive if you use your phone alot. Now if you only use it for emergencies and stuff then yea PrePaid is the way to go. It's also the way to go kinda sorta of depending on what type of data you want to use. I'm with SpiKe tho post paid is the way to go.

I agree about post paid,
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 11:02 by teddyearpI agree about post paid, but, I think fog's basic gist is to get a second phone on a ppd plan just for doing your WAP and DUN. Something I may consider . . .

yea but if I'm not mistaken
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 11:08 by pyde_pypperyea but if I'm not mistaken isn't there a daily access charge even on prepaid of like a dollar a day. That said if you were to use it like every day or even 5 out of 7 days it just adds up for no reason. It's all a matter of opinion tho and how you use your phone I guess but I've never liked prepaid as it really doesn't save you money in the long run if you use your phone a lot.

If I understand everything
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 11:36 by teddyearpIf I understand everything fog's posted on this subject (there's an even older thread he started about this somewhere here) correctly, the daily access seems to be needed only when actually making calls, but for some reason NOT data. I'd like to see fog post again to this thread to further clarify, though.

I'm with ya there wanting to
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 12:21 by pyde_pypperI'm with ya there wanting to know the specifics myself just for shits & giggles. I really have no use for DUN what so ever but as I always say you can never know enough.

Well i have one for contract
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 20:08 by fog37766Well i have one for contract which i use for phone calls. I also have one for prepaid which i use for dun and now of course wap. And on prepaid unless you make an actual phone call you dont get charged the daily fee if your are on one of the new plans you just got to get a 15 dollar card every 30-45 days to keep your phone number active. And if you just use the phone for data services you wont be charged the daily fee unless you use the vzw wap services but whats the fun in that

well that sounds about
Posted: Wed, 09/03/2008 - 20:51 by spikejoneswell that sounds about equivalent to getting a phone on Nationwide Plan and getting the VPACK for 15 bucks additional. Im not sure about using DUN with only the Vpack on that plan though. I've seen posts on cellphoneforums by Mark Venture stating that Verizons System is now capable of telling the difference between data coming and going to the handset and that which is originating from the PC. So that is something that needs to be truly clarified in my mind.
Im curious though if txt and pix work for free on that prepaid phone?
ehh. whats up doc?
Thank you
Posted: Thu, 09/04/2008 - 20:05 by teddyearpFor furthering this thread. I used to use pre-paid way back about five yrs ago and I would have to re-up a new card as you said to keep the # active. I got tired of the "You have 'X' minutes for this call" everytime and that's why I'm on post paid. But if I gather this correctly, still, if you have to re-up a new card in this interval, you may have to go ahead and make a call or two, lest your money be wasted, and the only other advantage is that you get your DUN on EVDO speeds without the 'dreaded' oversight, yes?

Yea those pre call messages
Posted: Fri, 09/19/2008 - 19:31 by fog37766Yea those pre call messages are annoying but if you turn your messaging level to low you dont hear them. And to ansewer pydes earlier question. You only get charged the daily fee if you make a voice call if you use just data you never get charged. Also guys im thinking of getting 2 razr v9m's has the dun method been tested on these phones and does it work?
