Posted: Sun, 12/31/2006 - 16:23 by wild03Nice, I'm always skeptical of things like this from big corporations, next thing you know they claim that it was only for selected customers or whatever...then is back to the corporate customer service mess. not far from rebates. Funny how unreliable the USPS is when it comes to delivering this. I can't remember the last time I didn't receive one of my bills, I always get those but rebates is a 50/50 chance ;)
If anyone tries this and doesn't get charged let me know, is good to know that they are not scamming.
I'm afraid of touching that Get it Now button as it is!

Posted: Tue, 01/02/2007 - 18:55 by wild03Actually I've been getting plenty of ringtones from Verizon. FREE. I go to
http://www.getitnow.vzwshop.com/index.aspx?id=music_ringtone_browse_vzwtones
Then select LG chocolate as the phone. and then start searching. (why LG? I don't know, when I pick V3m I get a 2 page list. LG gives me 150+ pages...If someone figures out how to get the most ringtones let me know) You might want to just search for what you want.
Select the ringtone you want and play the preview (Earphone icon).
Right Click on the player (left of the Play button but on the player silver bar)
Select properties,
You will get a location of the MP3 file that just played. Select and copy
Paste this to a new browser window and you will be asked what to do,
Select save the file and you know are the proud owner of the ringtone
I then use MPT to copy the ringtone to the phone ringtone directory and it it now shows up on the list of ringtones in the phone.
Enjoy! no CODE required! :)
(This is not my own work, thank's to the original author of this hack)

Posted: Tue, 01/02/2007 - 19:41 by Jadls79Hmm... Mine doesn't want ot work. It seems that having the quicktime add on the file just plays in that new window without giving me the opion to save it. I tried disabling the add on, but all that did was not let me play the ring tone. Oh well, can't expect to get everything for free.

Posted: Tue, 01/02/2007 - 19:53 by wild03Never give up. there is no save option.
The file plays on the new window, yes! once it finishes playing you have to right click on the player and select properties to get the web location of the mp3.

See image, I had to copy and past the address twice to get to the image. good luck.
Let me know if you have problems!

Never mind I think I misunderstood, I think you are pass the point I explained, you are now trying to save the link.
A suggestion would be to :
-Launch the Quicktime Player from the start menu
-From the EDIT pull down, click Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences
use the drop down box and select File Associations
-Click the FILE TYPE button... find the listing for MP3 AUDIO, and MP3 PLAYLIST and REMOVE the check mark from the boxes.
-Do the same for MIME Settings.
-Then Click on OK. and close that all down
