skin change problem
Posted: Fri, 09/08/2006 - 08:29 by justbobHello folks
I just got my razor, and I've been hacking away since I got it. So far, with the help of this site, I've been able to enable the USB file transfer (OBEX?) and I've lengthened the video camera duration, and added the vib then ring feature.
Today I tried the skin.
I followed the instructions here. I saved the old files and downloaded the new ones. Using Bitpim I overwrote and rebooted the phone as instructed.
IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE
When I overwrote, I noted the file sizes change, so I know the change took place. I replaced the changed files with the originals, then went through the whole process again, and still no change.
The phone seems to be working fine; I's sure like to know why nothing happened.
BTW, I think it's a V3M. It's a verizon razr with a memory chip.
Thanks
justbob

Posted: Fri, 09/08/2006 - 08:42 by pyde_pypperAfter you loaded the files did you go to personalize and change it to the " blue theme" from the default that is stock, seeing as that is the file you overwrote I would think you would have to go in and select the other theme ( Blue). Give it a shot and let us know. If that does fix it we'll let Styol know to add that at the bottom of the guide so people don't get confused.

V3C / V3M SKIN FOR VERIZON!
Posted: Fri, 09/08/2006 - 10:35 by CincyballIm not sure if this would matter, but before I overwrote my blue theme, I changed my theme to the default. Just to prevent any kind of error. I ran into a huge problem by accidentallyu changing one of my ringtones while it was still linked to a ring detail, and i lost all access to my ring details. I have since remdied that, but maybe we should mention switching out of the blue theme while doing the change to prevent any kind of problems???

Posted: Fri, 09/08/2006 - 11:37 by justbobWell Folks, I tried changing the theme, I didn't even know I could do that, but it still made no difference. While I was there, I tried the other themes, and they made no changes either. Is there another change I should have made? Is the phone somehow locked?

V3C / V3M SKIN FOR VERIZON!
Posted: Fri, 09/08/2006 - 13:54 by styolyeah, i kinda made a boo boo lol..
You need to...
Menu > Settings & Tools > Display > Display Themes > Blue
bob, thats kinda strange... try restarting your phone... if still nothing.. try the process again.
v3mm, i tested it a few times before releasing the skin and it shouldnt make any difference whether or not you have the skin selected.. however im just realizing that i naturally thought to just close the phone and not be on the menu while changing the skin. ill definately atleast mention that in the guide as well.
