New 6/26/07 PRL file posted for anyone flashed to Alltel

pyde_pypper's picture

Heya everyone I just added the new PRL files for AC1 & AC2 plans to the http://hacktherazr.com/originals/ link. If you flashed to Alltel and don't want to hose data services go ahead and download the correct file depending on your VZW plan and go ahead and upload the new PRL files to your phone using PST or QPST depending on which one you like to use. The download file has the files for doing it either way.

It depends, you planning on using PST to do it, or do you want to do it via QPST. If you use QPST then you have to do a seem edit so you can write to the /nvm folder on the phone. In the zip file you'll see 3 files by using QPST you have to overwrite each the 2 coresponding PRL files over the correct one on the phone, and just disregard the *.rla file

Now if you use PST then all you have to do copy the 1 *.rla file to the phone by following these instructions;
just open PST then click the open folder icon in PST the navigate to the CDMA PRL, locate the downloaded file and open it. Then click on the write to phone icon.

If you do hose the data services, can you fix it with a reflash or something, or are you screwed? Same question for the infamous Tetris.

I for some reason your data service do get hosed the only way to get them back is flash back to VZW. Then you have to call CS and get them to fix the problem. After it's fixed then you can flash back to Alltel and do the fixes again. As for Tetris, if you try it it will hose your setup and you'll end up having to start from square one again also.

"go ahead and download the correct file depending on your VZW plan"

I'm ignorant, so forgive me. But how do you know which plan you have, and then once you know your plan, how do you know which file to download? Like, I know I have 900 minutes, etc etc, but I wasn't sure if there was more I needed to know as far as my plan goes, or what. Help would be appreciated, thanks!

Just saw something I might want to add here. I'm flashed to Alltel and hosed my data service. ( don't ever try and change the phone number under user activation Nam1 by the way). So anywho, I called CS and they asked to do a *228 from my phone, which regretably did. After that didn't work, she did something else on her end and then BAM! everything was working again. All was done on Alltel flash.

Sweet.

so let me get this straight, after you flashed you did all the data fixes and all data services worked ( ie GIN, MW, Vcast....). Then you hosed them by messing with the NAM1 thing. Ended up calling CS while still on the Alltel flash and they were able to fix it. If that is the case I've got a test to run then.

Reason I say that is on this flash go around I never did any of the fixes, and since the flash I have done *228 on the phone which didn't matter because I didn't fix the data stuff seeing as I never use any of it. I'm wondering if I will be able to go and do the fixes while on Alltel and then call CS to try and fix it. Think I'll give it a shot over the weekend and report back if it's possible. That would be nice if I can, but I'm a bit skeptical seeing as I have never had the data stuff fixed the first go around, but interesting info bud. Thx, I report back soon.

Yeah! I was messing with NAM1 and changed my phone number in there to see if it would affect the "my number" at startup (which it did) but I forgot to change it back before I tried to access the web and it gave me an "authentication failure". Well, I then changed my number back and it still was giving me that error, so I tried GIN and textr messaging, but those didn't work either. So I called CS and they had me do a *228, so I know my data service was screwed for sure then. But after a couple more steps, she said that they needed to add something to my account and then remove it. And sure enough, after that, it worked great. All while on Alltel 4.06. The only bad thing was she asked me to go into phone info and check my S/W version... Good thing I remembered the original version number exactly.
