Messing with arcconfig.ini: extended video duration
I just posted a new guide on how to extend the maximum length of a video that you take from 15 seconds to 4 minutes and 55 seconds...
http://hacktherazr.com/guide.extend.videos.html
remember that in order for you to be able to send flix messages, videos still need to be 15 seconds or less.
also ive listed all the settings within the arcconfig.ini file and im going to start building proven changes that can be done to the configuration file... for instance, the location things are stored in, video quality, etc...

Posted: Fri, 10/06/2006 - 06:14 by pyde_pypperFYI this change only works for the VZW UI, if you have a v3c with the Moto UI do not try this hack, you'll just be wasting your time. I've already tried it a while back. I've looked and asked around and with the Moto UI no one has figured out how to get this change to work as of yet.

Posted: Fri, 10/06/2006 - 13:23 by pyde_pypperSounds like a plan, figured it may be a bit relative so some folks don't get confused.
Something else we need is to have someone test this out who has USCC. I'm not sure if it will work on there v3c's either seeing as USCC sells there v3c with the Moto UI like Alltel does. Only reason I state this is that mine is actually the v3c from VZW but flashed to Alltel, so I don't know if that is affecting things differently or not.

Posted: Fri, 10/06/2006 - 17:32 by doomlord289in regards to the arcconfig.ini settings, i can confirm a few of the things in there.
[Pix Settings]
...
Card Folder=fs:/card0
add /{name of default pix folder on card} to change where pictures are stored on the TransFlash card. Only pix in this folder will show up on the phone
Example: Card Folder=fs:/card0/my_pix
[Flix Settings]
...
Card Folder=fs:/card0
add /{name of default flix folder on card} to change where videos are stored on the TransFlash card. Only flix in this folder will show up on the phone
Example: Card Folder=fs:/card0/my_flix
[Audio Settings]
...
Card Folder=fs:/card0
add /{name of default audio folder on card} to change where RECORDED SOUNDS, not music, are stored on the TransFlash card. Only sounds in this folder will show up on the phone
Example: Card Folder=fs:/card0/my_sounds
[Audio Settings]
...
MyMusic Card Folder=fs:/card0/my_music
add /{name of default music folder on card} to change where music is stored on the TransFlash card. Only music in this folder will show up on the phone

Posted: Tue, 10/10/2006 - 22:09 by MihkaI tried the above edit to change my DEFAULT audio storage location to the flash card. That part worked fine as I noticed all the default phone ringtones had disappeared.
FYI tho, the audio on the card only showed up if it was labelled as .mid (and I can assume .qcp would work too) and it was NOT selectable as a ringtone which is standard behavior for sounds kept on the card.
I was hoping that making the card the default directory would at least enable the playing of .mp3 extensions off the card but it doesn't.

Posted: Wed, 10/11/2006 - 05:00 by styolyah, i did discover that.. what you do is change the filter (a couple lines above the audio storage location) to include .mp3's, .wma's, whatever...
i think i was able to set it to the my_music directory for uploaded music, and then added the wma file type to the filter, and i was able to see all of the music located on the transflash right from tunes and tones... however... the options had no set as ringtone, and also the songs did not play.. would imagine the regular audio player does not support wma, as the media player might be the only component with the codec.
i think that the problem is the option, "apply as ringtone" only shows up in the true, hard-coded embedded hidden location of ringtones.
as you may or may not have noticed, when you change the location of audio storage to the trans card, that when you goto tunes and tones it does show that diretory.... but, when you edit a contact to change the ringer id, it brings up the normal audio location.
likely issues we'll face with changing the ringtone directory: regular audio files (hidden, system, etc) as well as notifications and what not will need to be located in the same directory on the trans... no what i mean? you have any given different types of notifications and what not too, so the phone not being able to locate the file may cause it to crash... anyway, just putting that out there.
