flash for V3r???

i have a cingular branded V3r with SW version R4515_G_08.BD.43R and the boot loader is OA.30. i bought this phone off of craigslist and the guy told me that the phone came from overseas. it is unlocked and i have enabled the rythm lights on the phone... now i just bought a sony vaio with vista on it and i cant get MPT to recognise the phone... is there a flash that i can perform on this phone to get a new SW version and bootloader for this phone??
