Exteiror Screen on V9M?
Ok, so with the help of members from this site I have successfully modified my first phone. Now that I got a little confidence I would like to amp it up a bit. I have read that you can change the outside screen image to whatever you want. How? The posts I've browsed through are pretty techincal and Im not a seasoned vet like some of you. The phone is through Alltel and I have (cautiously) played around with the P2K commander a little. Can anyone explain in laymans terms how to do this? Thank you.

FYI you don't want ot use

Once you have that rolling use the filesystem just like you saw with p2kcommander. Then head to the /mobile folder in there you will see a file called alltel.gif. Select it then right mouse click, 1st thing to do is save the original just in case you need to put it back. Then after doing that right click again but this time select overwrite and select the *.gif you wanted to use. As simple as that and it should be a done deal.

don't run the phone wizard
Posted: Sun, 10/05/2008 - 19:10 by listenman20don't run the phone wizard when setting up bitpim with your v9m. on the phone type box drop down select other cdma phone instead of using the phone wizard. then select the port your phone is on and click ok. bitpim doesn't have full support of the v9m just the filesystem. so it can't autodetect your phone yet.
Exactly what Listenman20

No matter what port I direct it to use when I go to find phone it tells me that nothing is hooked up or unable to locate... Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your advice and patience.
don't click on find phone.
Posted: Mon, 10/06/2008 - 21:13 by listenman20don't click on find phone. once you hit ok in your settings menu then you should be set. just make sure you have filesystem checked under your view drop down. once all that is done select filesystem on teh left and in the midlle section double click on the +/ and your fiflesystem should appear in a few minutes.

Posted: Thu, 10/16/2008 - 19:21 by Knot WaitingI took a little break from this... (some due to frustration, mostly because I didnt want to drive you guys nuts with it) but I still cant get that BitPim to recognise my phone. No matter how I go about it the program will not register any activity..
Is there any other way to change the outside screen, or can we start from scratch and I will try to find the error of my ways. Thanks a bunch for you efforts.
first off, make sure that
Posted: Thu, 10/16/2008 - 23:54 by spikejonesfirst off, make sure that you are not using MSU or any other p2k suspending application while trying to use BitPim. When you do that, it will never work. BitPim works off of AT mode only.
second thing... do you have BitPim set to the proper com port?
third... what model phone are you telling bitpim that you have?

I was attempting to connect under the "other cdma phone" option. I may have had another application open though so I will try again with only BitPim running. Thanks

Posted: Sat, 10/18/2008 - 01:06 by spikejoneswhen you go to browse com ports in the setting screen, there will be a list of "active/available" ports. One of them should be labelled "motorola usb modem". Highlight that one and click okay.
im tired at the moment, but I just want to ask incase it has not been covered yet:
do you have the drivers installed?
