Droid ROM, etc. discussions~continued~2
Since teddy asked so nicely i'll start this new thread to pick up where we left off.
it's good to see teddy back around. actually teddy i still maintain my droid 1. my son uses the droid X. we discuss it some in this thread too....maybe it should be another thread but it's always just been us that carry on about it so i haven't bothered.

I'm using LauncherPro now. Which has solved my whole widget/shortcut/menu item problem I was having. I also find it a little bit more faster.
I really like the touchwiz menu that ADW has, but I found it to be really laggy on mine.

Posted: Sat, 09/25/2010 - 16:21 by listenman20i think the animations are set to be a bit slower on ADW than LP. i just wanted to try something different and plus the ADW has themes...and the themer i'm using has his own theme just for ADW. it basically tints all the app icons the same...it looks good...it looks better when all of them take....for some reason the dolphin icon didn't and the angry birds icon goes in and out...on the lithmod rom i was using i was having serious redraw issues while using LP...i've used LP on this project elite rom i'm using now but i wanted to see what ADW looked like and try it for a while...i kinda like the galaxy s app drawer with its sideways movement. still haven't figured out how to change the browser button on ADW tho. maybe it's not changeable.

Anyways, I really like ADW and I used to use Home++ beta both of which were (are) on the fringe (and therefore considered 'buggy', 'laggy' and taboo), but for some reason once I got used to Home++ beta's setting to hide the notification bar and the fact that you can long press an app in the app drawer to uninstall it, well there it is there, I guess. Damn the topedoes on my choice of home replacement.
As far as my theme, I still use my own version of the "DarkSE/24k" theme that has by now pretty much gone by the wayside (so therefore sometimes it takes me more work to implement it), and then I keep using the old fonts from the first version of it when we were still on 2.0.1. I like the font, because it looks elegant to me; the theme because it matches the phone, black and gold.
Well, that's all for now from me. . . .

Has anyone ever used Panda home? I used to see themes for that all the time in the market.

Posted: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 05:50 by pyde_pypperGlad to see you stop by there Teddy. You obviously have way more patience then I do that is for sure. I honestly can't believe how many stupid people I see on these forums when it comes to this Android stuff. It just seems to me either they can't read, are to lazy to read and want to be spoon fed. Or they just plain don't get/understand what they are reading.
You are correct tho on the Motocache1 thing. He is the one who did HottProxy, as well as the ESE81.sbf file for the Droid. He was even kinda enough to make us an SBF of the custom recovery P3 made for our unsecured D2's X's. And dam does it work like a charm if I must say so myself. It is so just simple full SBF the device, quick SBF of the recovery image and bam off to putting a custom ROM on it that has root,busybox...etc. Up in no time. Now on that note I personally know Motocache1 so if there is anything you'd like to know in specific or what have you. Feel free to drop me a line and I'll touch base with him. Personally I have not kept up on much if any of the Droid stuff. After having this X this long now I never see myself going back to the Droid dam thing is just to F'ing small, and being I have no use for the piss poor keyboard I don't see it happening I guess. But then again I'm really not a huge fan of the keyboard anyway and never have been the virtual works just as well if not better IMO. I still have one as a back device tho just in case.
As a side not tho for any D2 or X owners. Here is the fastest and simplest way to root it. More or less a one click pony in ADB instead of the process Birdman figured out and Sebastian finished up. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8136153&postcount=2
To change the Browser icon on ADW go into settings of ADW and make sure you have RAB & LAB checked ( ie enabled) so you edit them. Then just take any icon you have on your screen and drag it right over the browser icon and release and it should change. I have my 2 buttons set to Txt msgs & the other is Gtalk.

Posted: Mon, 09/27/2010 - 20:19 by teddyearpYeah pyde I haven't seen your moniker much, I figured you pretty much moved on to D2/DX forums. And I don't know if I'd call it patience, but maybe so. There have been a couple of threads in the 'rescue squad' portion of DroidForums where I damn near held some hands so much I was almost telling him how to pee, and the poor bastard still didn't get it. I really don't know what draws me there except for the fact that I try to actually READ (as you pointed out) and then post an actual solution. As you said, nobody there seems to want to read, cares to read, or wants to be spoon fed. It's not so much the ones that want to be spoon fed that bother me, it's the one's that post 'solutions' when they haven't fully read the whole problem that kills me. Especially when they are supposedly "Rescue Squad" memebers! Oh man, have you got me going! hehe.
I know I just want to share and help with the knowledge I have, but sometimes the stuff I deal with over there makes me wonder about myself. I almost feel as though I'm trying to be narcissistic, though I know (at least I'm pretty sure) I'm not. Well, I could go on, but I think I should stop right there.
@ Sailor, that new rom looks sIcK! I've already downloaded it, and I might just have to try it, but WOW, it's going to be a huge change from everything I've been used to so far.
Now back to trying to figure out them thar permissions for su and busybox . . . .
p.s. for pyde, so are you saying that MotoCache1 and [mbm] are one and the same?
