DISCUSSION: Getting the Vivo flash to work on a USCC V3m (only!)

teddyearp's picture

Well, I think I've done it. If you want to get a Vivo flash to work on your USCC V3m, go here to check out my guide.

Now mind you, this may be a work in progress and this thread is meant for those of you who are well-read enough to try this and then give me your feedback as to your successes and/or failures so that I can fine tune my guide if need be.

good luck.

Now, I've seen quite a few reads in this thread, but it seems as though there is no discussion, therefore, I guess none (all two) of the USCC V3m users here on this site have either tried this, nor have had any troubles doing this. My point is, I can no longer afford to keep two phones active on two different networks and I will very soon have to drop my USCC service very soon, unless there is some interest in this thread. Then, and only then, will I figure that it's worth my $$ and time for me to further contibute to 'hacking' a USCC V3m.

Why wouldn't one want to have a totally better .mp3 player and direct phone menu access to the HTR WAP server on your USCC V3m phone? Or maybe not, since it's such a 'dated' phone.

Just for a final update to this thread that I am the only one to populate, I hosed my USCC -> Vivo flashed phone while trying to add a skin to it. So I used my own guide to restore it, albeit I just started at the part where you flash to Vivo, as I already had the backups.

So, let it be known that the whole entire restore process as written worked most excellent for me, and such being said, I am pretty sure that the whole thing would work just fine.

I did see where a few little edits needed to be made, and so I did.

I've had a little trouble once or twice with QPST. Did you try "add a new port"? The first time using QPST you usually have to do that step. Also, I have had trouble when I forget to 'power cycle' my phone in between using different software(s). i.e. unplug phone, turn it off for a couple seconds, then turn it back on.

good luck.

yea odds are you need to add th ecomp port before it will work. Windows rarely if ever put the phone on com1 or 2 for the USB modme. So hook your phone up and go into device manager and see what comp port it is listed on. Then go into the QPST configuration and add that port. Once you add it is should show up on the list and you will be good to go.

Yeah... see i tried the adding the new port thing. Odds are i didn't do it right. i am going now to retry it and report back if it works.

Hehehe.. what a DUH moment.. I just realized that when i was trying to set up COM4, i wasn't highlighting it so that it would put the info in. That's why it wasn't communicating correctly. Cool *ahem* it's all okay now. Thanks
