Confused

I installed the motorola drivers, followed the guide...

Awhile ago when i was trying to unlock my phone i put it into some mode, holding or hitting buttons...(Can't remember which)I left it alone in that mode had to do something else. The phone battery died.. & am not at this point.

Now it doesn't really charge or the computer doesn't destect it \". When i plug into a wall outlit it turns on says; "insert sim" then when i unplug it, it turns off.

I wanted to be able to use it without a sim card, even though i have 2 or 3 extras, i tried 2 of them, and it didn't even detect them..

Sorry if this is the wrong area, just need help.
