I cleared my phone and now there's some issues

Sailorcancer's picture

I'm giving my razr v3m flashed onto Vivo to my Dad. And I did a master clear. Doing so has kinda screwed up the phone.

Problems:
-Hyphenation doesn't work either. Even though I tell it to be on

So far that's all I see. How can I fix them? Thanks!

why did you do a master

why did you do a master clear?

not sure if there are seem edits to fix that, or if you will need to reflash that phone.

have you tried Master Reset after the master clear? (i dunno what it does, so dont ask ME).

Call me lazy, I just wanted to get my stuff off of my phone and thought that doing one of those would do it. Looked at a moto instructions to see what the diff was.

The master reset didn't do anything, and I looked at my seems and all the seems were fine.

Someone over at HoFo told me I would have to reflash. I'm really hoping something can be done without have to resort to that.

Hey, you don't have to

Hey, you don't have to reflash. I did that same thing once Sad no biggie, it's a pain in the ass is all. You just need to do the system files that you put on from the flash, that have the mma_ucp and mma_dcp files....... they affect how the icons show or don't show, and also whether it'll show icons mode or just list mode. You also should only have to go back into the menu and reset it to 24-hour time like you had to do after you flashed. Restoring settings and some files, no problem. Just for whatever reason the master clear cleared those things from the phone.

Hope that makes some sense.... I'm tired. Oh, and the hyphenation, just redo the seem edits for that, should be good to go.

Lets see if I got this

So go into Bitpim and overwrite the existing mma_ucp and mma_dcp files?

Where in the system menu is the option for the clock? I looked at my seems and they're all fine including the one for hyphenation, and I re check it. It's in the menu do I need to put it on auto instead of on?

As mentioned try redoing the mma files using BitPim like you mentioned. Then redo the seem files from any backups you made from when you did flash. I know they may look fine but there could be one bit off that could cause you an issue. Specifically tho you need a good 275a seem files. If you didn't over write the 275b seem with your 275a seem that is why everything is jacked right now. When you do a Master clear it rewrites the 275a seem with the ( ie backup seem info) 275b seem info.

I also saw your post over at Hofo. Suggestion, if you are going to go threw the seems using your backups I'd change the phone number in them while doing them to the number your Dad uses. Also change it in the QPST service programmingin the M.IP tab for hte NAI & tethered NAI. That way when you activate it and dial *228 is should update/program the phone correctly.

Reuploaded the files and two of my problems went away. Then I went and turned off the auto update in the Time and date setting and I'm back to the 12 hour format. Will turning that off do something screwy?

I do have on my computer a 275a seem file. I loaded it to the the phone yesterday but it didn't see to do anything. Maybe I was doing it wrong? I just connect the phone start MSU turning on P2kseem, then click the load from computer *think that's what it's called* and then save to phone.

I have no clue how to do that stuff lol. But I can still do the ESN swap with this right? Just put this phones ESN on his and then *228 it? Or will that screw something up?

What you did wrong to

Posted:

What you did wrong to restore that seem using MSU/P2KSeem is you must load the seem from phone FIRST, then load from file, then write to phone and you should be good.

As for the ESN switch, you should probably have his old phone turned off first and then you shouldn't have much trouble from there.

good luck

The reason the 275a seem

Posted:

The reason the 275a seem didn't work is because you uploaded it incorrectly. You need to first load the actual seem info from the phone, then click the load from file, to lastly click save to phone.

As for turning off autoupdate no it should have any affect in all honesty unless you travel some where. however if memory serves me I thought there was a seem edit to turn the 12 / 24 hrs function on so you can change that via the menus. Then again don't quote me on that because I don't use the vivo flash.

As for the ESN swap yea that should be fine I would think. I've swapped mine & my sons phones before on my account and had no troubles. I can't say the *228 will work and get the phone setup correctly but it's worth a shot. Worse case is you'll have to activate the old phone for him while we try to help you work the bugs out.

Suggestion tho, NEVER Master Clear a flashed phone unless you feel like doing a lot of work to get it back in working order.

STILL have problems

Ok, well turing back the auto update thing kept the 12 hour format.

BUT MSU is freaking out on me! I tried to open it and then a notepad comes up that says "check_hotfix_for_vista". Well I'm on XP. I have to do a system restore anyways thanks to that new google web browser. Works like a charm on my vista laptop, but is completely messed up on my XP desktop.

Also just to make sure the seem I need to load from phone is 275a, and the bytes would be 7a right?
