It's hard to say as we're not comparing apples to apples, as far as I can tell. From my brief look, HSDPA is 3.5g and mainly on GSM networks the best I could tell. VZW's CDMA uses EVDO which is basically the same as 3g, but everyone's talking about a 4g (fourth generation) coming soon.
First off there is more then one stage of HSDPA. Secondly are you talking on paper or actually real life. On paper currently HSPDA would be quicker depending on which version. It also depends on what bandwidth we are talking for CDMA.
In the real world tho comparing the different networks that have the different versions, CDMA seems to be faster, but that has a lot to do with network setup. And the load on the network at the time, or where you are located at.
