I just got this Sprint RedRazr V3m and can't figure it out. I've loaded music and pics on my sd card but can't access music. What do I do, Help please!
tonight was my first time spending a lil time with the sprint v3m and music.. and i tell yah... it was a pain in the ass, ill briefly describe my findings
mp3 audio files need to be located in the microSD's "Music" directory.
it is ok to put them in folders, as in you can just copy an entire album over to the music directory
long filenames are a major issue. the phone will either not recognize a long file name, or it will cause the music application to error and crash, and not load your music list over and over again
the main issue is that the computer has a far larger allowed filename length then the phone... what i did, since the music player loads song information off the ID3 or ID4 tag anyway, make sure your tags are all good, and just rename the file to the song name
No good: Sublime - 40 oz. to freedom - 5546 Thats my number ball and chain.mp3
Good: 5546 thats my number.mp3
also make sure that the audio files you are transferring over are not a wierd format, like .ogg -- im not sure what the sprint v3m is capable of playing, but mp3's are no problem.. wma's might work.. and otherwise i dunno
also just to be safe because at first i was really confused why the application would crash mid-loading the new songs... so i just tried everything and removed the abnormal characters in the filename... like [brackets], commas, apostrophe's, and (parenthesis)
after that, all 126 songs loaded successfully :)
oh oh oh... m3u playlists are accepted... so you can create a playlist with almost any program, and make sure to save it as a playlist-name.m3u, upload that bad girl, and hot time we have playlists. you can also create them on the phone, but its good to know :)
Also make sure that the music u are putting on your phone is a constant bitrate. Variable bitrate will cause the player to crash as well on the sprint v3m.
thanks for the input on file sizes & VBR...will have to be conscious of that.
What's the best way for getting music onto the phone?
is P2K Commander capable of accessing the micro-SD card?
In the V3m, the card can't really be pried out w/out removing the battery, and my girlfriend's Krazr is even worse, because the card is UNDER the battery.
Has anybody been able to unlock the Bluetooth OBEX functions for the Sprint phones?
They tease you, showing the file transfer & object push functions in the phone, but checking the phone's services from the computer reveals the only service available is Dial-up Networking Gateway (I'm amazed they left this feature active.)
You can use bluetooth to file transfer pictures, ringtones, and music on a mac. I can do this with both my G3 & G5 iMacs. On a windows computer, to the best of my knowledge, is impossible.
I've tried myself today to upload music. I sent it to the music folder but i can't find it on my phone. when i hit the music button it takes me to player. I then pressed all my music but no music was found. I called Motorola they told me I still need Internet access. I don't use the Internet on my phone and a few times I hit the wrong key and was getting billed for Internet use. So i restricted the ability to access it through sprint. Any suggestions?
Also at Motorola they told me that the mp'3 had to be 128. Mine were at 320 so i converted them to 128 and still no luck :(
Needing internet access to get music on your phone can't be right, sounds like the Sprint person doesn't know what they're talking about. Did they elaborate as to exactly how that would help you? Is there a place in your media player for you to select "change storage device" or something? It could be referencing your phone memory while the music is on your memory card.
I had a similar problem, but I resolved it pretty quickly.....you need to get a micro sd card reader with USB connection. after you get that, just open your memory card like a standard flash drive (it's usually the E: drive) anyway open that as a folder, and then open the "music" folder. you can then drag your music files into that folder and they should copy just like putting music onto a thumb drive.
i had a different problem but along the same lines with my music player. the V3M redrazr came with a 128MB micro card....i thought the capacity of 28 songs with that was ridiculous so i bought a 2GB micro card on buy.com (got a good deal $24.49 shipped). anyway when I filled the card with music (500+ songs) the player would freeze the phone and I would have to remove the battery for a hard reset. I figured that I would try and remove half the music and reduce the storage to less than 1GB of info on the card....that worked, but the player still takes about 5 minutes to load the songs. TOTAL PAIN. my question is, does anyone know how to hack this phone to make music player run faster, or at least make the phone run faster in general? thanks for the info in advance
Online and operating normally To use the server you must enable WAP access on your account by going into the My account link on the side bar, going to Edit, then go to WAP, and then check the WAP access enable box and Submit.

or you can try qpst, which can access and upload to the /mmc1 folder
