Caller ID issue with the Motorazr Ve20

I cannot (and I have been trying) figure out how to get this damn Ve20 to show me Caller ID info.
I cannot find it in the settings menu(s) anywhere. I have read and re-read the manual (no help).
It shows the number (including area code) of who's calling, but no name. Every-time someone calls I have to remember (try to) who's number this is. My old V3m showed the name, no number. So I figured the Ve20 should do the same. Has anyone figured out any hacks for this phone yet? I have found the new version of P2K05Seem_RC1 works GREAT, as well as P2K Commander 4.9e. Do a Google sear for P2K05Seem_rc1, you'll find it.

How do you have the numbers in the phone book? I had a phone that was extremely picky and I had to have the phone number in it a certain way for caller ID to work.

yeah whichever way they're displayed on the caller id is the way they should be stored in the contacts. they have to include the area code.

try putting the 1 in front of the area code. yes it sounds silly but I've seen it at times on my phones where the actual number will display or sometimes the caller ID will. think it depends on where I am or if I'm on an extended network instead of a VZW tower. Can't say for sure but it may be worth a shot to try it.

Figured it out, My Bad

Posted:

I doubled checked my contacts (Phone Book) and found I DID NOT have the Area Code(s) in the numbers. When I updated to the Ve20 I just used MPT to transfer my existing contacts from my old Razr (V3m). That one did not require an area code to be present for it to work. Once I went through it and put in the area code(s) it worked as I wanted it to. Now it shows the Name of the caller, whether it's a Mobile, Work or Home number and the number. Boy do I feel like a hoser.

BTW pyde_pypper, it put a "1" in front of each of them on it's own. Oh well, I don't care, it works and I'm happy.

I'll ask again, Does anyone know of any Ve20 Hacks yet?
I've been messing around with the Seem's using P2K05Seem_RC1, but they don't seem to have any effect. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place? i.e. hex address.

Anyways.

Try HoFo. Truth be told most of the hacking of dumb phones went away with the Razr 2 v9m. Everyone has moved on to smart phones now.

Glad you got it working. I found that I had to edit a few of my contacts on my newest phone to include the area code to get the rest of the stuff working, so they say. I just did it. Haven't even activated it yet, but will tommorrow, then my hands will be full . . .

good luck

p.s. as for VE20 hacks, none here yet, but try going to HoFo.
