bleh, noob screws up again...
okay, about six months ago i got really into this whole phone hacking thing... Its cool no joke and if i fix this problem ill jump right back into it.
heres the deal. i was installing myself new theme and somewhere in mid install my compy froze up. i imagine this is where the screw up came out. i unplugged my phone and and the screen went black. the phone still works, i can still call people i can even see the signal strength volume and battery symbols however, i cant see the actual screen. so my question is, is there anything i can use to reboot it completely. make it forget i ever did anything to it and just start over? i really hope so.
Thanks and please forgive any grammer or spelling mistakes lol.

2. you can attempt to (with the phone flip closed obvioulsy) re-write the files to the phone completely
(make sure you do not have any other programs running while working with the phone as this may be the likely culprit of the computer freezing up)
3. if all else phails, you may be able to flash the phone. but before you go about doing that, we need to know what is the current firmware on your phone.
edit: i just noticed that you are with ATT/Cingular. Were you attempting to add/overwrite a SKIN? Becuase when you say "theme" that is only applicable to Verizon phones. (menu theme hacks)

Posted: Wed, 10/22/2008 - 13:28 by teddyearpYou may be able to use the Master Reset function within RadioComm to restore your phone to a working state. And as spike says, try not having too much stuff running on your comp as that can cause problems.

Posted: Wed, 10/22/2008 - 14:12 by thames28I would try what teddy said...sounds like the problem i had sortof main screen was black except top of it...done master reset like he said and everything went back to normal...I don't know if there is a seem edit on yours to change the skin (Seem 29cb bytes 0000)for alltel i have learned that that also works and you don't have to MR ur phone. Let me know something here so i know if that applies to urs also. If the seem edit does work it will show up on the upper right hand side of ur seem editor and show a system dir path to a skin folder

Posted: Wed, 10/22/2008 - 14:18 by pyde_pypperthe seem edit to change the skin/theme on a Razr will work on any of the firmwares. Even works on the VZW crap UI, i tested it on my Maxx Ve.
Currently using the New Moto Krave ZN4

Thx.

Posted: Wed, 10/22/2008 - 17:58 by listenman20if you know hex you can check uncheck bits accordingly but what most do is just write over the directory reference in the ascii section on the right. change say, blue theme to tropic or moto to techno
you would have to know how
Posted: Wed, 10/22/2008 - 21:04 by spikejonesyou would have to know how to convert Ascii -> binary actually
01100001 = a = 97 (Decimal)
01100010 = b
01100011 = c
01100100 = d
01100101 = e
01100110 = f
01100111 = g
01101000 = h
01101001 = i
01101010 = j
01101011 = k
01101100 = l
01101101 = m
01101110 = n
01101111 = o
01110000 = p
01110001 = q
01110010 = r
01110011 = s
01110100 = t
01110101 = u
01110110 = v
01110111 = w
01111000 = x
01111001 = y
01111010 = z = 122 (decimal)
those are all the lower case letters. the upper case letters start out at the binary equivalent of 65 (in decimal).
periods are: 00101110
forward slash (/) is: 00101111
spaces are: 00100000
note that each ascii character is represented by 8 binary bits. There are 8 bits in a byte, and furthermore, there are 2hex characters in a byte. 8 bits can be checked in seem editor, therefore each offset represents ONE byte and therefore represents ONE ascii character.
you can covert from ascii to binary here:
http://www.theskull.com/javascript/ascii-binary.html
you can convert from binary -> hex -> decimal here:
http://www.easycalculation.com/hex-converter.php (or you can use your scientific view on windows calculator)
also note that the binary values you get will be listed as a string running from "bit 7" to "bit 0" (for each grouping of 8 bits), however your seem editor will have the check boxes ordered from "bit 0" to "bit 7"
thats a lot of trouble to go through just to change a directory path
well i agree...it would be
Posted: Wed, 10/22/2008 - 21:56 by listenman20well i agree...it would be alot of trouble, which is why i noted that most just rewrite the ascii. but i did see in a vivo thread where one went to rename a contacts category where they listed which bits to check rather than to do the rewrite....

Check out the 2 pics and dl em teddy that should help you on what i was saying...If you change the wording were the arrow is at it will change the applied skin. M.o.t.o or whatever all the periods have no bits checked in their offsets. I know that there has to be a period between each letter and the first letter needs to be CAPS...

you can use either of these image hosting services to upload your photos. they will provide you with both HTML and BB Code for embedding the picture on the website. (best to just grab the HTML code though so you don't need to change the comment input format).
