Backing up browser file w/RSD Gen

teddyearp's picture

OK, I guess it's time for me to ask a stupid question. In Mark's Vivo guide he suggests that when done go ahead and go through all the backups again, that way if one wants to flash again, all the working Vivo/VZW stuff is easier to restore.

Well, I have one leetle problem with my browser file. RSD CDMA Gen reads it just fine, but when I try to save it I get "Failed to read browser CDMA 6.x from data" error. Like I said, it read the file just fine from the phone and restarts the phone, but I get this error when I try to "Save to File". Could this be because I have my own HoTTproxy and Zaks setup and not just the default VZW proxy? Or should I chantge the default to the VZW?

I'll try to uplaod the image here as well, and thanks.

I've had it happen, and all I did was rebooted the comp, cycle the power on the phone and tried it again and all was good.

However if it doesn't and you do still have PST setup just use it to back up the file. The same PST file should be able to be used to write back if need by using RSD General.

No problem, let me know what happens tho, kinda curious. I'll also check RSD General myself tonight if I get a change with both of my original Razr to see if I have any trouble.

Well, I did try it and still had troubles. Here's exactly what I did. Plug in phone (obviously after re-booting both items), start RSD, phone provisioning, checked the browser check box, read from phone. Read the CDMA NAM file, then the browser 6.0 file fine, RSD restarted phone, done without errors. Clicked browser link, bottom window refreshed, then clicked save file button, option for file name window comes up, clicked ok, then the same error as I posted. So, I thought, hmmm, while I'm in browser 6.0 window click read from phone again and try again. Read fine, RSD re-started phone, no errors, but again when save to file, the same sequence as above with the same error.

I hope that my short(hand) makes enough sense to you as I don't think we (I) need to spell out much more than that. Just for kicks, in a bit I'm going to try it again with the full re-boots, this time not just hit the browser check box, but the link BEFORE I hit read from phone. Will post those results for you and anyone else as well.

Well, FYI I did the above and still had trouble, mainly I post this for others who may have the same troubles. Here's a screenshot of what I had before I hit save to file:

On another note, while in device mgr, I found that my drivers are 2.7.xx so that will be my next troubleshooting mission.

FYI try opening RSD general first before plugging the phone in.

Harumph. I tried your last pyde tonite. Right after both reboots. This time, RSD, plug in phone, click browser link ONLY (i.e. no check box), read phone, fine. Write file, harumph, same error. Go to phone websessions, set default to VZW. Reboot both. RSD, plug in phone, click browser link, read, OK. Check browser box, save, same error. Maybe I'm changing too many things at a time, without being more methodical.

I guess it really doesn't matter much as I do have the good RSD .rtb backup from my last re-flash/flash. I was just trying to get the post vivo with the extra two proxies .rtb file.

Teddy; had a thought on this. Once you pull/read the browser info try going to each of your proxy settings and change them to " Factory stored" from the pulled down arrow just like you see with the VZW proxy. Then try saving it I wonder if that will help or not. Only reason I say this is I always set mine to factory stored so if by accident a browser reset gets done i don't loose all of the settings being that I have 4 or 5 different proxies (excluding the VZW stuff) setup on my phones.
