Alltel Start up/Shut down sounds
Does anyone know how to change the start up and shut down sounds on the Alltel Razr V3m without using flash or themes or anything? Just what file do i have to replace inside the phone to change those two sounds?

if memory serves me
Posted: Sat, 08/16/2008 - 08:37 by pyde_pypperif memory serves me correctly they need to be mp3 but renamed to what is shown (ie mp_ ). It's been ages since I've dealt with them as I have my SU & SD sounds turned off.

Posted: Sat, 08/16/2008 - 12:51 by spikejonesi know that on verizon phone i was able to use a wav file and over write the startup sound with bitpim. worth checking out
Cool. well I'm going to test
Posted: Sat, 08/16/2008 - 19:19 by JamesBradleyI downloaded BitPim before and it couldnt detect my phone..at all. no matter what i did. and .WAVs/.MP3 files didnt work. Alltel sucks -_-
if you didn't use BitPim
Posted: Sun, 08/17/2008 - 10:40 by pyde_pypperif you didn't use BitPim what did you use. Reason I ask is the files NEED to be overwriteen and p2kcommander does not do that correctly. It more then likely added another file. Kinda curious what is the file name of the file you tried to add to the phone?
FYI there's no reason BitPim should not work with your phone. What model Razr do you have from Alltel? Both my VZW Rz's are running Alltel firmware and I have no trouble with BtiPim. What version of BitPim did you have. What phone setting did you use? You can not have it autodetect FYI, you do need to manually set it up to work right.

Lmao, i used P2K Commander
Posted: Sun, 08/17/2008 - 13:04 by JamesBradleyLmao, i used P2K Commander to try and overwrite the files, but like you said it only added another file. the files were the ones you told me to look for but when i tried adding them it ended in ".mp_.wav" & ".mp_.mp3".
I downloaded the BitPim app from this site. and i tried manually setting up my phone in BitPim but that didnt work at all cause it still couldnt detect my phone even with the manual setup. i might've done it wrong and missed a step.
my phone model is V3m and the S/w is NCR_01.1A.00R
I'm not very sure on the phone setting you're talking about. But hopefully I've given you the right information about my phone that you were asking for. If i haven't then please tell me. Thanks for everything!
connect your phone to the
Posted: Sun, 08/17/2008 - 14:45 by spikejonesconnect your phone to the computer first, go to device manager and look at the properties of "motorola usb modem" it should give you a COM port number - write that down
1. Download latest version here: www.bitpim.org
2. open bitpim DO NOT HAVE ANY P2K SUSPENDING SOFTWARE RUNNING, bit pim communicates with the phone in modem mode (AT mode) only.
3. go to edit -> settings
4. for phone model, in the drop down list choose v3cm
5. for com port, type in EXACTLY as you saw it in device manager
6. Set option for autodetect at startup to OFF - autodetect does not work for Razr phones on any operating system ive used.
alternately for COM port, you can click the browse button beside the text box and you should get a window showing available ports - choose the one that is labeled as motorola usb modem (or just usb modem) and click okay. The detection test will always fail - this is normal. you should be set at this point to browse your file system with bitpim.
Do it just like Spike said
