401 Unauthorized error [ISSUE RESOLVED]

401 UNAUTHORIZED ERROR RESOLVED

We have determined what the issue was, and it has been resolved. Everyones account that was previously experiencing this issue should also be good to go.

I actually accept responsibility for this one, but it was all in good nature atleast hehe. I was trying to fix another on-going issue, which was when people sign up, alot of people were not receiving the activation email, so they couldnt activate their forum account which subsequently made their wap account.

To try and fix this, i simply disabled email activation when it came to creating a forum account, because our spam prevention thing on the registration page has been successfully warding off spam, not to mention that all spam bots verify their email addresses anyway.

Anywho! Making the forum not require email activation is what broke the wap account creation. Fragger had incorporated the wap account creation into the actual function of activating your account via email, so since accounts didnt need to get activated, then the function to create the wap account was not working. Thats why when you would change your password from the forum, it would work, because the forum profile was also tied into the wap account creation process.

So Fragger has made it so the wap account gets created by when we have our system set to require activation, and most recently setup to work when our forum does not require email activation :)

Fragger rocks, and im sorry about that... totally was with good intentions

nothing to date is wrong with the free wap system, if you get the unauthorized notice, please make sure that your username and password reflect the same CaSe SenSitIvItY -- also, if your password is very complicated, it may cause this error also... please try changing your password to something more simplistic (if it is complicated, like random characters and etc)

also note that changes to the password are not instantly. if you change your password on the site, that change has to be synced with the free wap server, and this occurs every hour, on the hour.

i will give you guys a couple days to see this response, please respond so that i know you guys have seen it... if i dont hear from you ill send you a private message... otherwise, after this, i will delete this forum thread so that it does not confuse people in the future

still no luck at all man,

still no luck at all man, i've tried 3 different passwords including the registration pass, the pass i innitially changed it to and then a 3rd exceptionally simple pass.
I've tried switching between HTTP connection type and WAP connection type with each password. I've tried using the IP resolved to WAP.hacktherazr.com. I've tried changing and checking the case of all involved.. and i've tried reseting the browser entries and starting over a few times. I'm not sure what's left to try other than having a custom name/pass made on the server itself..

ok so you tried to change the password 3 times... so this must have taken atleast 3 hours to do, because like mentioned in my reply, when you actually change your password -- the wap server remains the same, your password does NOT change immediately -- so, each time you changed your password from this site, you would have had to waited up to an hour, before even trying it.

as in:

3:30pm you change your password on this site -- 3:30 pm the free wap server still thinks its your old password -- around 4:00 PM the change will finally be synced with the wap server, so sometime after 4pm your password would have been synced between this actual site, and the actual free wap server... they are completely different servers and we currently do not have changes instantly synced between the two servers (this a web server, thats a wap server)

i understand my potential

i understand my potential problem with the lag time between the servers, but if that were the case, wouldn't you expect my activation password (the scrambled stuff sent to you via email) to have worked at some point? Also, wouldn't you expect my more "simple" password to work now? it's been over 12 hours since i last changed it.

yes, at this point if your

yes, at this point if your last password was simple, then it should be the currently synced password. the password sent via email is randomly generated, and we may have to do some tests to verify exactly which characters may cause the password to not work on the wap server, so that we can more clearly describe what not to use (on the free wap guide atleast - which also needs a revision likely)

ill go ahead and forward this thread to our WAP server ninja, fragger, and see if he can check it out for yah. in the mean time ill see if i can dig up your user account on the wap server to see if anything is amiss.. however, for debugging, could you please forward me the current password (or change it again and forward it to me) so that when we can try your account and verify the unauthorized error and then procede from there with debugging (just so we have a basis and specific account to test)

thanks and sorry that you're experiencing issues with the server at this time. we will get it resolved asap.

also if the other person currently having issues could do the above mentioned (re: password forwarding to me via private message) that would be good as well so we can resolve it.
