WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

Let's be honest, the Motorola RAZR brand phone has been around for quite awhile now. Something else that might be apparent or new to you, but thus far the Motorola Razr has had one of the longest "shelf lives" probably known to cellular man. By shelf life, I dont particularly mean how long Razr's last once in the possession of a person, but instead I mean the length of which Razr's have actually been on the shelves, so to speak, of actual wireless providers. I believe the average shelf life for a decent phone is around 2 years. Considering that this site alone has been around for over 2 years is rather remarkable, and it absolutely did not start when the Razr's appeared on shelves.

That being said, new phones come out all the time, which is also why cellular phones have short shelf lives, which means that the demand for the Razr phone are likely dropping as time goes on, which also means that the demand for this site would start to drop as well. Thus far the trend with this site has been that it simply continues to grow, which also coincides with more and more wireless providers starting to carry the Razr along with the arrival of new Razr models. But, there is definitely a cut off point where eventually wireless carriers will stop carrying the Razr. Although it seems like it may never go away, its possible that this is the eventual likely fate of the Razr phone.

What's this site about? All about preventing that. The more we support the Razr phone and its features, the more new cool things that are found out that you can do with the Razr, essentially leads to continued interest in purchasing a Razr which also leads to wireless providers continuing to provide the Razr. We need to keep this site alive, and we need your help to make it happen. We know you like your phone, and hopefully this site has helped you like it even more. However, it is the continued work and support from MANY individuals through out the world that has made this site possible.

We need YOUR help to keep this site alive. There is so much more information related to the many different models and providers of the Razr, that there is no way that anyone alone can bring it all together. If you're interested in the survival of the Razr and this site, and are interested in contributing to the cause, then theres numerous ways you can help.

How you can help

• Be active in the community, contribute your knowledge to the forum. Politely help others and others will politely help you.
  The forum of this site creates a community where neighbors try to help neighbors, and where people can connect and interact with each other. Whether it be to receive or give help, or whether it be working with someone else on figuring out a new hack, its a place where you can both get help, but more importantly give help. Naturally without some people willing to help others, that means that your own question would go unanswered. We're not asking for a commitment here, we're asking you to do whatever it is that works for you. If you know how to do x y z, and someone asks how do you do x y z, then if you're up to (and patient!) then you might be interested in sharing the knowledge you have learned. That's in essence what human kind is all about, without the sharing of knowledge we wouldn't even have computers for instance. If you don't feel like helping other people and sharing your wealth of information, then quite frankly, don't. If you have a question and don't want to provide enough information for us to help you, and then have attitude when more information is request, then don't a question. Similarly, if you want to help someone and give them attitude and are in general rude, then most of us in the community would prefer that you not try help. Our community is a kind one, and we avoid saying things like "just search for it" and "god not another repeat question". If you wanna help, then politely help. If you need help, then help us help you.
• Guides are the meat and potatoes of this site. We need your knowledge, so write up an in-depth guide and post it so we can review it and move it to the guides section. You can post a guide via blog, forum topic, or contact us.
  These are probably one of the most important aspects of a quality informational site about a specific topic, such as the Razr. It's that step by step tutorial on how to do x y z that has allowed us to teach thousands of people the same trick, without a majority of them needing to ask who how when? The more elaborate and in depth a guide is, the less questions and problems people may have. Often times we release a guide and something is brought up in the forum that may not have been clear enough, so we revise that aspect of the guide, therefore practically preventing all future questions of the sort. People will always have questions and issues, but the better the guide, the easier it is for people to learn, and essentially the smarter we all get as a collective entity. Not to be cheesy, but knowledge is power, and knowing is half the battle (kind of a hybrid between GI Joes and NBC? lol). There is several ways that you can get a guide onto this site. The more traditional way is posting a decent version of it in the forums, allowing people to try it and create suggestions, then maybe preparing and presenting it for the live site. We are also open to you posting it in your personal member blog, posting it as a FAQ, or simply contact us and we'll help you get it online and posted. What could you write a guide about? There's so many possibilities it's scary - basically anything not found in the guides section currently, even if its basic stuff like "How to check how many minutes you've used on Verizon Wireless".
• Upload stuff to the Media section. You can upload audio (ringtones, songs, notifications, etc.), upload images (wallpapers, startup/shutdown animations, outside LCD images, etc), and upload video (shows, clips, etc. that are sized for a Razr).
  The more we can build up the Media section, the more neat stuff you can upload onto your Razr. Especially with the later models having external memory cards, it makes it easy to use your Razr as a music player, or portable video player. Not to mention that neat custom outside LCD images, wallpapers, and startup/shutdown animations help your customize your phone to your liking. If you've got only a couple wallpapers, or a huge collection a ringtones, or whatever it might be, consider uploading it to the site and sharing it with the rest of community. Not to mention that uploading of audio, images, and video helps you gain Points on this site - which will soon be used to trade in for a HTR shirt, gift cards, and more.
• Advertisements is what allows us to maintain such a large site, so if you see an advertisement that genuinely interests you, then don't be afraid to click it.
  We provide advertising from reputable and well-known sources such as Google and Kontera, which ensures that actual advertisements are not misleading or lead to malware, spyware, or anything shady. The advertisements are specifically targeted automatically on each page, so its like that whatever page you're at, that advertisement you're seeing is likely related. Clicks on advertisements yield revenue for the site that allow us to for instance have a dedicated web server (currently a quad-core!) that also allows us to run such things are the FREE WAP proxy, which is definitely not allowed on cheaper, shared, webhosting services. By all means, we're NOT encouraging you to fraudulently click on 1000 ad's in an hour - that's illegal, unethical, and wrong.

  As a collective, the HTR community is vastly intelligent and ever-expanding with more members. If you have any ideas, comments, suggestions, corrections, or pretty much anything. Please, feel free to contact us in anyway. We are currently accepting people who would like to become actual "Contributors" to the site, which will give you added functionality on this site such as adding guides directly to the guides section, moderating the forum, and alot more.
